From comments on the Tickle v Giggle case.
"To Casey Dee; what's your solution to men pretending to be trans to gain access to spaces to see children? Aka the pedo problem Australia has?"
Um... the same solution I have for preventing Martians eating babies on street corners. Or Jews drinking the blood of Christian children in synagogues.
The real pedo problem we have here is in Churches and Schools, often those attempting to divert attention from themselves by stampeding very gullible people into believing fantasies, such as "men pretending to be trans" posing a genuine, not wholly imaginary, threat to children
Or the classic Blood Libel about Jews, a perennial favourite.
And people still fall for it. The complete absence of any evidence that it happens is ignored by the ignorant and thick. They know what they know, mere facts will never change that.
Another comment:
"To Karen Hartas; why do you believe women and girls do not deserve single sex spaces for their safety and privacy away from men who identify as women?"
My reply
For the same reason i believe that White women and girls do not require single race spaces for their safety and privacy away from non white women and girls. It's the same argument .
If someone is worried about cis men pretending to be trans in order to gain access to women's washrooms they're worried about predatory men, not transwoment.
And the argument about trans women having an unfair advantage in athletics is *also* the exact same one that was quite seriously advanced not too long ago. People claimed, seriously and with a straight face, that black women were *obviously* more innately athletic than white women, therefore it wasn't fair for them to be in women's sports.
You still see this argument advanced, in veiled language, against Simone Biles.
Specific case in point, Valentina Rodionenko's comments about Biles "lacking aesthetic value". That is literally Rodionenko saying it's unfair for Biles to be judged for her gymnastic skills, and saying that white Russian gymnasts deserve to win points for the aesthetic superiority of being white and conventionally attractive.
And that's an actual Olympics coach, not some rando. That's the *already filtered* version of that thought.
