Temporary Thread - Suggestions Needed For New Omni Thread, For Rambles, & ...
Attending a residential (not commuter) college can "socialize" the resident student.
It's a residential introduction to discovering nascent adulthood with other ostensibly intelligent age-mates / schoolmates / perhaps classmates.
Similar "socialization" may occur in other quarters, military recruit barracks for example. BUT !
The culture between these two examples differs substantially.
As an admin. I'm apparently barbarically inured to topic drift.
In general, suggestions welcome. BUT !
In particular, rather than opening a separate forum (we could do that if bandwidth picks up) I'm considering a dedicated (potentially sticky) thread
for the types of discussions about what is new, insights from personal experience, the kind of things a university sophomore might discuss, BUT !
adjusted for seniors in 2026 & beyond.
Not sure if it'll put a dent in the topic-drift problem. Even if not, old people learn things.
And some of those things are interesting.
And some of those interesting things are worth sharing. BUT ! Where?
I have in mind a thread for exchanges like those one might expect when students get together in the dorm
and say stuff.
So:
If we start a thread for that, what shall we call it ?
The Dorm
The Barrack
The Bar
The Campfire
Behind The Dumpster
... ?
