The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

Bell’s palsy and stroke are medical conditions commonly associated with facial paralysis. However, Bell’s palsy and stroke are not identical, and proper diagnosis is key to ensure safe, effective treatment of either condition.

Don't despair Mr. President.
There are treatments for either condition. BUT !

For extreme cases, including presidents with a neck waddle big enough to K-turn a humvee, amputation is the only responsible treatment. AND !
You'll save a $fortune in MAGA hats.

The Daily Dot Rachel Hurley writes: An architect named Andrew Kerr just laid out why Trump’s White House ballroom project is basically bullshit. And his math checks out.

Here’s the deal. Trump’s now saying this 90,000 square foot ballroom will cost $300 million. Do the math on that - it’s $3,333 per square foot. For context, $1,000 per square foot is already astronomical for construction. We’re talking about a price tag that makes zero sense unless you’re building on the moon.

Kerr points out that if this thing actually follows classical proportions like the renderings suggest, you’re looking at a footprint about 380 feet by 235 feet. That’s longer than a football field and 1.5 times as wide.

For a ballroom that’s supposed to hold 999 people - which by the way, started at 650 people when this was first announced in July and magically grew to accommodate almost 1,000.

Let’s talk about what you actually need for 999 people according to Kerr. At a comfortable 20 square feet per person for a banquet - which is pretty generous - you need 20,000 square feet. Throw in another 10,000 for support functions and 10,000 for pre-function space, and you’re at 40,000 square feet.

That’s less than half of the supposed 90,000 square feet. So what’s the other 50,000 square feet for?

The renderings are also suspect. Kerr notes that the interior and exterior views don’t match. The White House is 70 feet tall to the roof. The interior renderings show a room about 100 by 200 feet with a 20-foot ceiling.

But the exterior renderings show a footprint 4.5 times larger than that. The math doesn’t work.

Plus - there are no actual architectural drawings. Just some pretty renderings that could have been whipped up by junior staff in a week or two. That’s it.

No construction documents, no engineered plans, no detailed specifications. For a $300 million project that’s supposedly breaking ground and already has demolition crews
tearing down the East Wing.

For context,

I can't find the original of this on the Daily Dot website

=================================

However, there are any number of articles pointing out that the demolition process is unsafe - the existing building is full of asbestos, mold, and lead paint (all sorts of fun stuff) - in the "real" world the contractor would have been required to shroud the entire building and all the workers would be wearing protective gear.

Ever wonder why Trump is such a fan of Vlad Putin?
Some plausible reports indicate Putin is a $Billionaire, skimming / defrauding the Russian People / economy, extorting the oligarchs.

So Trump is skimming his own "ballroom" project? Is there a more plausible explanation? Like what?

It's not rocket surgery. Let's see the proposed construction blueprints! NOT some glamorous artwork the president brandishes for the camera. Construction blueprints with engineering details, measurements, etc.

Isn't Trump a climate-change denier?
Didn't Trump hire an anti-vaxer for HHS Secretary?

We're supposed to be surprised Trump would allow standard environmental protections in this demolition?

Not just "environmental" protections but safety gear for anyone working on the project.

In a prior life my office was in a building (mid 50's construction) that was undergoing some extensive renovations. While they didn't tent the entire building they completely sealed off individual floors while the work was being done and the work areas were kept under "negative pressure" as in there were exhaust fans sucking air into those portions of the building (the exhaust from those fans was fed thru heavy duty filters to ensure that absolutely nothing escaped).

OK so far ...

I 🔵 it.

In apparent haste I omitted the word "sidestepping".

- bummer -

Not just Trump - the contractor is putting his staff at risk by not requiring proper protective gear. Suits that look more like spacesuits than anything.

As corporate media bend their knee to America's senile wannabe dictator,

From The New Republic:

The head of CNN wants his network to tone down its coverage of President Trump destroying the White House’s East Wing as he builds his enormous ballroom.

Status reports that CNN CEO Mark Thompson told his staffers on a conference call Thursday to reduce the network’s coverage of the White House’s destruction, one day after he had paid a visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Wednesday meeting at the White House was supposedly about CNN’s upcoming streaming product and an opportunity for Trump administration officials to appear on the network, but Thompson’s words to CNN employees raise the question of whether Trump officials told him to alter the network’s coverage. Staffers at the network are suspicious, according to Status, especially considering that CNN anchor Jake Tapper has been trying to get an interview with the president.

The network has a historically bad relationship with Trump, with its correspondents often butting heads with the president going back to before his first term, and its parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, is up for sale with Trump ally David Ellison among the leading suitors. During his second term as president, Trump has made no secret of his grudges against media outlets, seeking to punish them through the FCC and defamation lawsuits.

Could Trump be trying to take advantage of CNN and engineer softer coverage? Is Thompson trying to save his own job in the event Ellison acquires CNN? Either way, it’s another example of the Trump administration infringing on the freedom of the press.

Woody Guthrie wrote his Dust Bowl ballad ‚Ain’t Got No Home‘ in the 1930s.

In 1950, he moved to Beach Haven, a public housing project in Brooklyn. The name of his Landlord: Fred Trump - Donald Trump’s father. During the two years Guthrie lived there, he figured out that black people weren’t welcome as tenants in Fred Trump’s housing complex, and therefore he wrote a new verse for ‚Ain’t Got No Home‘

:Beach Haven ain’t my home
I just can’t pay this rent
My money’s down the drain
And my soul is badly bent
Beach Haven looks like heaven
Where no black folks come to roam
No, no, no, old man Trump!
Beach Haven ain’t my home!

This verse was unknown until Will Kaufman unearthed it in 2016 while researching for a book about Woody Guthrie in the Guthrie Center’s archives. There is no recording of ‚Ain’t Got No Home’ with the Trump Verse by Woody Guthrie himself.
