"Trump has ordered a complete data blackout from all federal agencies" S2 #121
Cutting back on expenditures in research may be penny wise and pound foolish, but the fig leaf is $savings.
What ostensible benefit from data blackout? Security?

If they're still collecting the data but not publishing it there can't be any savings.

What ostensible benefit from data blackout? Security?
Don't think that's the reason - much more likely he doesn't want data released that might make him look bad. After all, he fired the last person who released numbers that weren't flattering to him claiming that she had falsified the data to reflect badly on him.

Indeed. Yet MAGA doesn't seem to care. Elon Musk reportedly laid waste ... under guise of?
It's actually worse than this S2.
For while precisely as you acknowledge "there can't be any savings" some of the research cut short already consumed substantial resources. The payoff is completing the process, reaping the benefits.
Interruption before completion renders what's already been spent, essentially wasted.

Thus my point and yours, needless waste under the guise of savings.

Still not entirely clear to me whether Trump is outright lying (knowingly stating falsehoods) or whether Trump is so delusional he's stating his actual view.
"I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have, because we won the State." President Trump via telephone to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger

Still not entirely clear to me whether Trump is outright lying (knowingly stating falsehoods) or whether Trump is so delusional he's stating his actual view.
That's always been the case. And it's not just with data. When he says that "the other country" is paying the tariffs it's no clear if he actually believes that or if he just figures his followers will believe it because he said it.

ANCHORAGE (The Borowitz Report)—Sarah Palin’s tenure as the dumbest person to set foot in the state of Alaska came to an abrupt end on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, the former governor was philosophical about losing her crown of idiocy, declaring, “I had a good run.”

Watching the newly-minted king of stupid ramble incoherently at a press conference in Anchorage, Palin observed, “Whoa—now there’s a moron!

”As for how he clinched the title, Palin opined, “Even I know the difference between Alaska and Russia.”

Conservative network Newsmax agrees to pay $67M in defamation case over bogus 2020 election claims

The conservative network Newsmax will pay $67 million to settle a lawsuit accusing it of defaming a voting equipment company by spreading lies about President Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss, according to documents filed Monday.

The settlement comes after Fox News Channel paid $787.5 million to settle a similar lawsuit in 2023 and Newsmax paid what court papers describe as $40 million to settle a libel lawsuit from a different voting machine manufacturer, Smartmatic, which also was a target of pro-Trump conspiracy theories on the network.

Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis had ruled earlier that Newsmax did indeed defame ...

- Trump embraces tough-on-crime mantra amid DC takeover as he and Democrats claim political wins
In nearly a quarter millennium in U.S. history President Trump is reportedly the first U.S. president to have dozens of felony convictions.
The above AP headline indicates our criminal president is "tough-on-crime".
Our criminal president, party to bloody insurrection, EXPLICITLY ineligible to serve:

Germany developed a gel that regrows cartilage in damaged joints — no surgery needed

In a stunning breakthrough for regenerative medicine, German scientists have created an injectable gel that regrows cartilage in damaged joints — potentially eliminating the need for knee or hip replacements. This bioactive hydrogel is packed with growth factors, collagen fibers, and stem cell attractants that transform joint cavities into healing chambers.

The gel is injected directly into worn-out joints, where it forms a flexible matrix that mimics natural cartilage scaffolding. Over weeks, it recruits the body's own stem cells, triggering cartilage regrowth layer by layer, restoring shock absorption and joint smoothness. Unlike implants, which are static, the gel adapts to body movement — becoming stronger with use.

In clinical trials, patients with severe osteoarthritis showed visible cartilage regeneration within 60 days, along with major improvements in pain and mobility. The gel also reduces inflammation, removing the need for post-op meds or immobilization. This one-shot solution could delay or eliminate the need for joint replacement surgeries for millions.

Because the material biodegrades naturally after healing, there’s no need for surgical removal. And unlike synthetic implants, there’s no risk of long-term wear, infection, or rejection. It’s especially promising for younger patients or athletes seeking non-invasive recovery.

Germany is now preparing regulatory approval across Europe, with plans to offer the therapy in clinics by 2026. If globally adopted, this could be the end of artificial joints — replaced by natural healing from within.

No idea but by the time it's received approval on this side of the pond we're both liable to be gone from this world. And that's for knees and hips - no idea if it will have any use for disc repair/replacement.

- Trump administration ordered stop on $4 billion wind farm - #135
The accusatory finger of self-righteous indignation is not sufficient here.

"This. Is. Insane." #135
In terms of environmental policy? Yes.
In terms of energy policy? Yes.
In terms of $economics? Yes.

BUT !

None the less, it's not the first example of Trump knee-capping the marathoner a few meters from the finish line.

Why would Trump do anything so "stupid"?

Apparently Trump understands Milton, Paradise Lost.
Trump has made his choice. It's better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.

And to obtain power Trump relied on groups like "Oath Keepers" and more conventional power brokers including fossil fuel.

The criticism in #135 is spot on. BUT !
It is premised on fundamental humanitarian utilitarianism, which simply doesn't apply to Trump administration policy.

Those groping blindfolded for the missing puzzle piece, to make sense of this puzzle may now resolve a coherent if horrific political panorama.

Think this horrendous?
Trump has over 3 years left as president, with the perilous risk of 8 years of President Vance after that.

We are in trouble.
Deep, deep trouble.
And among those set to pay the most severe penalties, our children's children, the as yet unborn.

BREAKING:
Donald Trump, Tomi Lahren, and FOX News host Laura Ingraham get devastating news as Occupy Democrats announces that its new host Loren Piretra’s YouTube channel is growing like wildfire, declaring, “‘The Loren Piretra Show’ is exploding in popularity because Loren might be blonde (and better looking), but she also has the brains, morality and integrity that Trump, Lauren, and Ingraham are sorely lacking — and she has the facts on her side.”

‘The Loren Piretra Show’ currently has 31,300 subscribers in only one month. We are setting a goal of getting Loren to 50,000 subscribers by TONIGHT — in order to let Trump, Lahren, and Ingraham know that she means business.

We can witness from the sidelines, & tsk, tsk, tsk, to heart's content. BUT !
While the disengaged can dismiss it as madness, those actually paying attention recognize the pattern.
Trump II may make Trump's insurrection look like childs-play.
