I suspect within the $Billionaire population, the nouveau riche are a minority. Tiger Woods, & Taylor Swift come to mind.

Clearly $wealth distribution through our society may not seem to be utilitarian. Anyone got a better method?
 
Somebody I used to train with in the university weightroom - came to Canada with his first year tuition paid and $7 in his pocket - now a billionaire.

I've wondered what genius born in the 6th Century described things so beyond the comprehension of his associates that they dismissed him as a imbecile. What would they have thought of Einstein?

Human culture makes possible (airliners, smartphones) what would otherwise seem purely ridiculous. And these modern miracles exist because of division of labor.
And we can't have division of labor on this scale without $money. Thus: "Money makes the world go 'round."

Studies have shown $jackpot $lottery winners undergo a joy reset that is alarmingly brief.
The newly $multi-$millioned very quickly adjust, and then settle back into their pre-wealth mood.

may well never have materialized. If he made a $Billion inventing the widget, but Bruce invented the widget first,
instead of a billionaire Mr. $7 might instead have been a shoe salesman, scrimping for a used Nash Rambler.

Those that claim "hard work" are likely not to have labored on the construction of the Erie Canal.
Literal "hard work" ones entire life earns him a back ache, and an early grave.
Self-made $Billionaires by & large take risk, Bezos for obvious example, Buffet for counterexample.

My intended overall point is such wealth tends to be lock-&-key.
- A money culture with a need, &
- an innovator that can catalyze the economy.

Not sure where that places J.K. Rowling.
